Advancing Women and Youth Entrepreneurship was designed to help women and youth entrepreneurs gain the skills, knowledge and network to scale their businesses. In partnership with the U.S. Embassy, Tokyo, the initiative provided the essential building blocks of creating a successful business venture.
ATX+ Indonesia
In partnership with the U.S. Embassy Jakarta Global Innovation lab trained and empowered 20 entrepreneurs with emerging businesses through online program modules and in-person workshop trainings. At the conclusion of the training series, five entrepreneurs with high-potential startups were selected to attend the SXSW Conference for additional capacity-building and continued mentorship.
ATX+ Singapore
In partnership with the U.S. Embassy Singapore, Global Innovation lab implemented a targeted training program to enhance the capabilities and entrepreneurial acumen of entrepreneurs in Singapore. Ten startups underwent in-person and online training whilst receiving one-on-one mentoring. One entrepreneur was ultimately selected to attend the SXSW Conference to establish key connections to further propel expansion goals for his early-stage startup venture.
Ciudad del Saber, Panama
Ciudad del Saber (CDS) or City of Knowledge, is a unique incubator/accelerator based at the old U.S. army base on the Panama Canal in Panama City. UT's Global Innovation Lab has been a strategic partner in support the development of their ecosystem.
DHI Business Acceleration Program, Bhutan
Launched in partnership with Druk Holding and Investments, the commercial arm of the Royal Government of Bhutan, the DHI Business Acceleration Program (DHI BizAP) provides a holistic approach to entrepreneurship development in the Cottage and Small Industries (CSI) sector.
DST-Lockheed Martin India Innovation Growth Programme (LIGP)
Through cooperation with the Government of India’s Department of Science and Technology (DST), Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Global Innovation Lab developed a program to bring India’s early-stage innovators and new technologies to market in India and around the world. The program benefited more than 1,000 Indian scientists, engineers, inventors and entrepreneurs across virtually every technology sector.
Empowering Saudi Women Through Entrepreneurship
In partnership with the KAUST Entrepreneurship Center at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and the U.S. Consulate General Jeddah, this initiative focused on building the capacity of women entrepreneurs in western Saudi Arabia. Participants learned the essentials of creating and growing a successful business venture, as well as methods for bringing new products and services to market.
Gyeonggi-UT Innovation Program
In partnership with the Gyeonggi Small-to-Medium Business Center (GSBC), the Gyeonggi-UT Innovation Program spanned over 10 years and resulted in market research performed for over 150 companies and support for 80 companies. With international business development and technology transfer agreements, an achievement included a Space Act Agreement with NASA and multiple international partnerships with export revenue projected at over $30M.
Innovation & Business Acceleration Center (IBAC), West Bengal
In cooperation with the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. and in association with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry, the Innovation & Business Acceleration Center (IBAC) in the Indian state of West Bengal provided a model acceleration and incubation center to support innovators, technology, start-ups, enterprises and businesses which have the potential to grow, scale and contribute to the economy of the state. The program also worked with exporters in West Bengal on opportunities for expansion in existing markets for product launches.
Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT)
In partnership with the Korean Automotive Technology Institute (KATECH), Global Innovation Lab launched an automotive-industry-specific research, training, and education program. Over 20 companies were trained, and four companies developed business engagement agreements with Tier 1 suppliers, established automakers, and new entrants to the automotive market.
Nexus Incubator, India
Nexus, an innovation hub and startup incubator, was created in partnership with the U.S. Embassy and Global Innovation Lab to promote the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Located at the American Center in New Delhi, Nexus serves as a central hub for entrepreneurs, innovators, mentors, government agencies, industry and funding organizations to promote Indian startups and showcase best practices of American and Indian entrepreneurship.
Saudi Women Entrepreneurs Networking and Mentorship Initiative
In collaboration with the U.S. Consulate General Jeddah and Blossom Accelerator, this program built upon the Empowering Saudi Women through Entrepreneurship, by creating a networking initiative throughout Saudi Arabia designed to provide access to best practices and immersive learning opportunities while connecting Saudi women entrepreneurs with each other.
South Asia Connect @ Nexus Startup Hub
For entrepreneurs in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, South Asia Connect @ Nexus Startup Hub expanded on the Nexus program based out of the U.S. Embassy’s American Center in New Delhi. The program connected leaders in entrepreneurship-focused institutions to regional networks, mentors, training, and venture opportunities. Entrepreneurs were provided best-practice training, ongoing mentorship, and access to critical networks.
University Technology Enterprise Network (UTEN), Portugal
The University Technology Enterprise Network worked to enhance Portugal’s competitiveness in science and technology commercialization and global entrepreneurial success, working with government ministers, university rectors, faculty and researchers, and entrepreneurs. Through training and immersion programs in both Portugal and in Austin, Texas, the Global Startup Program prepared tech entrepreneurs to enter markets in North America and worldwide.
XLr8 Andhra Pradesh, India
In collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Global Innovation Lab launched XLr8 Andhra Pradesh, a world-class global technology accelerator. The accelerator fosters a culture of innovation in the Sunrise State of Andhra Pradesh to increase knowledge, wealth and employment, in the State and beyond.
Yangjae Innovation Hub, Seoul, South Korea
Yangjae Innovation Hub is a startup incubator located in Seoul, South Korea. The program was a partnership with KAIST University focused on acceleration of Artificial Intelligence startups.
